Booties of a Different Variety

These little peacock baby booties from She's So Crafty Goods are my first official girlie purchase for She Woo. And, actually, if we don't count the armoire, our first official preparatory purchase period.

When I told Carter about them in the car yesterday, he turned and gave me a look like, "Oh no, here we go. She is going to go berserk over all this crap. I'm going to have to restrain her in a dungeon or something."

And we had to have a conversation where I convinced him that this was just a single celebratory token and that I would remain calm and frugal even though I'm SO EXCITED AND JUST DYING FROM THE PRECIOUSNESS OF EVERYTHING.

But, nevertheless, keeping my wits about me just the same. I swear.

Barely a Bootie

If I were to ever wear a bootie, this would be the one. It's Bootie Lite.

Ahem, I Have an Announcement.

Wee Woo is officially a She Woo.

(Thanks, Kitty, for the new and improved nickname.)

Okay, Exhale...

After a long and valiant effort, I've finally raised the white flag. I'm sitting at my office desk with my pant button brazenly unbuttoned. Thankfully, my tank and cardi are yanked down enough to disguise the surrender. The zipper, although strained, is still holding strong, but that button just wasn't happening.

Giving Up the Gun

Now, I know that around here (high of 104 today. uggh.) this is the last thing most people want to see... but if J.Crew has a coat this cute, it can only mean that fall is on its way. In two months or so. Summer is just angry at us right now because she knows these are her last weeks of serious power.

I'm just going to think fall-ish thoughts. How about that collar?

Martha Stewart Flor carpet tiles in Faux Bois... nursery option?

I love City Sage's recurring "outfit to room" posts, and I think this one is such a perfect (and perfectly pretty and softly rustic) translation.

NPR is talking about The Hundred-Foot Journey by Richard Morais this morning, and I'm intrigued. Their catch phrase was "Slumdog Millionaire meets Chocolat," but from what they said it sounds, in the best way, like Ratatouille, too. If I could finally get through Flannery O'Connor, this would be the perfect August book I think.

In the last week...

I snuggled with sleepy pup ladies,

stared down some crawling kids,

went "swimming" with long time friends,

and showed off my new birthday earrings and purse from Mo-Weeze. I like to wear my purse while driving. What?

I also balanced the checkbook, made banana bread, and ate some fried shrimp, but I don't have pictures of any of those. Too bad for you.
