Mixing Up Meals
We're trying to add some variation to our weekly menus and grocery shopping, emphasizing frugality. Urban Grace posted on some of her favorite apps and included this free one, Dinner Spinner. You select what kind of dish you want, a main ingredient, and an amount of time you want to spend making it, and the app generates recipe options for you. I can't wait to shake things up.
Does anyone have any go-to budget meal ideas they'd like to volunteer so the Wooten can give them a try? I know I have some good cooks out there. I'm counting on you.

Mom's chicken spagetti is pretty good and easy. I buy a rotessirie chicken and pull the meat off (get hubby to help with this) then everything else you just kinda mix together and bake.
There is also "Thanksgiving in a Dish" which is chicken (yet again I use rotessirie) and Stove Top dressing, cheese, and cream of chicken soup. Just mix everything together and bake. Easy right...
I hope I'm not stealing any of my wife's thunder here, but this week we made couscous with black beans, cilantro, corn, red pepper, and green onion. Tossed it in some cumin, oo, and red wine vinegar.
It's filling, amazingly delicious, super healthy, reheats very well, and—best of all—costs < $1 per serving (and I eat a lot of it in a serving). Can get you the recipe if you guys want it...
Mix in some finely-diced/shredded chicken and you'd really be cooking with gas.
These sound so good! Keep the creativity coming!
P.S. Kendrick, I usually try to avoid cooking with gas, either as an ingredient or as a bodily function. ;)
Submitting a meal idea to you is a daunting task!!!! Putting my thinking cap on!
Don't forget the lime in the couscous dressing! It's a lime-cumin vinaigrette.
Also, jackpot!
