Kenny Rogers

I'm wearing my new orange knit dress this morning. It's pretty much like a night gown, but I mean, it's casual Friday. As we like to say, "It's the freakin weekend. I'm about to have me some fun."

I'm also sipping my coffee and eating Molly Wizenberg's Raspberry-Blueberry Poundcake (minus the blueberries) for breakfast at my desk. I've pretty much been eating that cake non-stop since we mixed it up the other night.

I had a great night's sleep last night. I feel so rested. However, a few of us have had some sleeping issues around the casa lately... mostly just Carter. Where as I am a heavy sleeper, he's a light sleeper. I fall asleep pretty much immediately when I lay down. When I was teaching, it was quite remarkable. But he is not this way. The clicking of the fan, dogs barking down the street, birds chirping in the morning--he's awake... and mad. Then, he heaves a big dramatic sigh and flops around enough to even rouse me from my deep slumber.

Naturally, our very bright flood light in the backyard has been an issue for him. We have blinds but no curtains in there. I say, just close your eyes, and it's dark, but whatever. On more than one occasion Carter referred to that light as the Kenny Roger's Roaster's light, driving him insane with it's unstoppable, piercing brightness.

By and large, I think Carter sees my home projects as sorta nice but fairly superfluous. Conversely, I have his full support on six heavy duty lined drapery panels and accompanying hardware. I think everyone will sleep better after they've been selected and installed.
